Working together to feed Refugees

In 2016, as the horrors of the Syrian war continued, the Children of Abraham of the Southern Tier hosted two events to help feed hungry refugees fleeing violence in the Middle East. The first of these events was held in April 2016, and it was so successful that we hosted a second one in September 2016.
Working with the Kids Against Hunger organization, with contributions from individuals and faith communities, during each event, hundreds of volunteers from diverse backgrounds gathered together in St. Michael's Recreation Center and packaged over 30,000 meal packets. These packets contain easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins that contain essential amino acids required for complete nutrition, and have a long shelf life.
The first set of packages were delivered to refugees in Greece, the second set to Iraq.
Special thanks to the Islamic Center of the Southern Tier for its generous donation, and to Roger's Trucking group for storing packages and assisting with shipping.
